Weekly Results Form - Background
As you fill in the form you will see the totals displayed in the spreadsheet. If you have asked to have the entering average for any player automatically calculated after the first week of competition you will see the average and handicap for these player's change as you enter the scores. If you enter corrections, these values will continue to be calculated until the all the scores are entered and processed for this week. Check the totals in this spreadsheet against the ones you have on the scoring sheets from the competition site. Differences in the total may indicate an error in data entry or in your math.

If you setup extra statistics then there will be extra columns in the spreadsheet for these statistics. Extra statistics values can be any number from 0 to 63.

If you have used spreadsheet programs such as Microsoft Excel or Open Office Calc you will be familiar with how to enter data into this spreadsheet. For cells that require a number simply type the number and press the TAB key to move to the next cell. If the cell contains a drop down combo box, you can either press on the space bar or click on the arrow to the right of the list to drop it down. Find and highlight the value you want in the list and either click on it or press enter to select it. If the cell contains a check box then either press on the space bar or click on the box to put a check mark in the box or clear it. Pressing the TAB key will move data entry to the next editable box to the right. Holding down the SHIFT key and pressing the TAB key will reverse this movement. Pressing the ENTER key will move data entry to the next row down in the spreadsheet. Some cells in the spreadsheet simply display information for you (such as average and handicap) and are not editable. The check boxes for incomplete results are not editable unless you have put a check mark for Incompletes on the top left of the form.

Each time you exit the form using the OK button, the program will either automatically make a backup of the data for you or ask you if you want to make a backup. A backup at this point is recommended because it will create a backup with all the data you have entered. This means that you will not have to enter the data again if the backup is restored.

If you have entered the scores and extra statistics for all the teams and you exit the form using the OK button, you will be asked if you want to process the scores for this week now. If you anticipate needing to make some changes in the scores, do not process the scores now. If you do not anticipate any changes then process the scores now. When the scores are processed the team and player stats will be updated. If you have not entered all the scores and you exit the form with either the OK or Cancel buttons, the scores you entered will be saved. You can continue entering scores where you left off when you select this form again later. If you exit the form without processing the scores and you have entered all the scores then you can process the scores at any time by returning to this form, clicking on OK, and indicating that you want to process the scores now.

If you process the scores and later find that you need to make a correction, you can restore a backup for a prior week. With the backup restored you can make your correction and continue.
